Silly debate. If it becomes a national security issue in times of conflict, the port gets nationalized. If the lease itself doesn't have specified terms to that effect (it will), there's always extant legislation that allows it and parliament can allows knock up / pass tougher laws if need be. China only wants to trade and not get frozen out of port access in the Indian Ocean given they are completely trade dependent as an economy....makes sense. Why doesn't Labor educate the people about this being an obvious trade off of the mining we're going through instead of using their ignorance to garner votes like some carnival of vote stealing gypsy hucksters.
