LaVerne Cox to Play Lead Role in Fox’s Rocky Horror Reboot

who very clearly state in the film that Frank-N-Furter is a bisexual man.

I think its up to the film makers to be aware of how their writing comes across to their audience, makers of media should consider cultural context especially when it has the potential to further attitudes towards marginalized people.

I'm struggling to think of any actual jokes in RHPS that use Frank's crossdressing as a punchline

I wasn't saying there was, I was trying to give an example of how non trans characters can do things that are transphobic and further transphobia and transmisogyny even if they are not trans, in this case its frank doing it. I'm watching it right now so ill say if it does actually have any or not

Ok, but crossdressers and trans people do a lot of the same things. It still doesn't make it right to conflate the two, especially if thats not what the film actually does.

I'm not conflating the two, I'm saying historically crossdressing and being transgender have been very very very very very much conflated, even today they still are, lots of people think of trans women as not women but men in dresses, that trans women are insane and rapists and murderers is what people think, also they think trans women are men.

Even if you say "oh ok well frank is stated to not be trans, that means its no ones fault but people who have been conditioned to be transphobic and not the creator who didn't consider cultural context"

It still contributes to negative stereotypes about crossdressers, even though you don't think it does for trans people, for some reason.

Ok, but the joke in RHPS is that everyone is either predatory or sexually fucked up in some way.

So? Doesn't mean its not a harmful.

I'm watching the film now, like I said, ill say even more after I finish.
