Leader of Hong Kong democracy group attacked with hammers

The US became an authoritarian regime at the passage of the 2001 Patriot Act, but that’s largely besides the point.

And I vehemently disagree with the passing of the Patriot Act. You're right, this has nothing to do with the concept of nationalism and having nation states.

you’ve just admitted a strong nationalist identity only applies to your own country.

Where did I admit that? I simply think that having nations and autonomous leadership to represent the citizens of that nation is a better ideal compared to the alternatives.

Ideologically speaking, they actually are.

Proof by contradiction: Connor Betts was a self-described leftist, therefore the statement made that "all mass shooters are on your side" is false, and it's a bit ridiculous to be honest, given the number of mass-shootings. Was the guy who shot up the GOP baseball game a fascist right-winger as well? Ignorant generalizations like this get us nowhere and have no basis in fact or reality.

You can keep playing the "us vs them" game, but reality unfortunately isn't that simple and easy to understand. It's the throwing away of this nuanced view that has gotten us into so much death, destruction and hatred over the past few hundred years. There is no reaching you at this point, but I just urge you to step outside of your tribe-based views and try and view things impartially.
