I played like 2005-2008 with a decent account and I just recently came back (same account.)
Some cons are a lot of minigames and things I used to do died out like Stealing Creation, Fist of Guthix, Castle Wars, and Fight Pits. I also have absolutely no old friends nor none I can recognize since username changes/names being reset.
But there are a lot of pros depending on what you like to do, now it's a lot easier to level/train. I never really liked grinding for skills except my melee stats, but now it's just much easier. But theres a downside to this as well, because of "easyscape."
I never did double exp weekend before, it'll be my first time this upcoming September but it'll be really beneficial for my account since things cost a lot more now.
You can ignore treasure hunter, but it might be worth it just to play it once haha. I don't ever check the Soloman's Store or buy keys or anything. My screen is pretty much on legacy interface (just log into a legacy world) with me sometimes using the EOC bar. Since it can be customized now, it's up to you. I still play with a tiny screen though ha.
Certain things have gotten worse and certain things have gotten better. Worse is probably player interaction. A lot of people just don't type out loud which I think is a bit weird. I meet people who have friendslists that consist of like 10 people.
In F2P, any populated place is just filled with begging.
Better is definitely the content, a lot of new things to do. I like doing the distraction and diversions and all the new quests.
I'd say give it a shot, I was just logging in to check things out and then logging out. But then I made a friend who introduced me to all their friends who introduced me to all the new content, and that just kind of sucked me right back in.
