Liberals of Reddit, what do you believe is the biggest issue with the Democratic party in 2017?

The problem here is that nobody has a good answer. Just move is a harsh one that they will never like or agree with. On the other hand the area is useful for mining and very little else. It's terrible to put good transportation through and too sparsely populated to really be able to do much. The people are extremely impoverished and drastically undereducated compared to the rest of the country due to the aforementioned transportation problems and sparse population. The only thing they can produce on a scale necessary to sustain their living there is a nonrenewable fuel source that's absolutely terrible for the planet and no longer able to effectively economically compete with natural gas.

The government could foot the bill to move and educate those willing, but that's a lot of money to take jobs from locals to other areas and remove a significant chunk of the population of some states. Furthermore most of them just don't want to leave. They want to do what they know in the only place they've ever been.
