Life begins at 40! I hope. Career change, college questions and a felony all wait inside.

Enough. I've been watching your stereotypical government manager rhetoric for some time now, and frankly, you yourself need a reality check. The fact that you have the position you do, is tantamount to how incompetent the government is at actually putting skilled people in management positions.

u/DarthBiden has to be qualified, that's it. Not "twice as qualified" and as smart as you self-proclaim, you full well know this. There are kids, literally coming out of college, vying for SysAdmin jobs, with absolutely zero experience in the real-work environment.

His age is irrelevant. I've met perfectly qualified doctors who've gone back to become doctors in their 40s. This isn't unique, and it fully disproves your own absurd statements otherwise.

You're not "trying" to be a dick, you are a dick. One that I've witnessed be so out of touch with the industry you manage, at times, that your complete delusions of grandeur is absolutely laughable.

Do everyone a favour, and refrain from giving anyone career advice and stick to pretending that you're smarter than everyone at r/sysadmin.
