Most colleges are desperate to fulfill female scholarships to balance out the requirements for having competitive male teams.  Even mediocre volleyball, softball, track stars often receive full-ride scholarships.   The full house celebrity in the news for the bribery scandal was added to a rowing team without ever trying out.
