There are places that have decriminalized drugs, preferring a rehabilitation and community building approach. You don’t really get in trouble for using, but if it has a major impact on your life and functioning, you may be required to rehab.

I recognize this isn’t something that will happen overnight, but if you vote for people who support progressive ideas, it comes closer to being a reality.

And if you like not being locked up for what mostly amounts to fun self-harm, you should probably be voting for more liberal people with more liberal policies. Maybe you won’t get locked up at all if things change.

Depending which state you live in, you might even be able to get absentee ballots so you don’t have to really do much of anything other than fill in some stuff and google some names.
