I love when things don't go the way the player expected it to. What's a moment you recall (as a PC or DM) that did not go as expected?

a player has very high charisma and our DM loves letting us do stupid shit.

picture this black/copper Dragonborn paladin (DM let him pick multiple ancestries so long as they were the same element)

manages to get an item early on that helps with persuasion rolls.

wont let party kill any dragonkin. starts "recruiting them" and making persuasion rolls by talking to the DM via text.

party doesnt know why, think it has something to do with his character's oath (Devotion) and how his people were killed bla bla generic story

after a couple months and sessions we finally reach our first BIG dragon, not just a whelp or something

Paladin wont let us attack

starts talking about how he will not let harm come to one of his own. starts talking to the dragon gives a big speech about his devotion to his people being boundless bla bla paladin noble quest bla bla his kin will conquer the world so no others will feel this pain bla -wait what?

starts talking about what he has been doing with all the lesser dragonkin and dragon born. sending them out to spread word that he was bringing swift justice to those who would seek his people harm garnering support and why the dragon should join the cause. rolls the dice 19 DM says it passes.

OOC party loses our shit laughing IC the party lives in constant fear of the eventual Draconian apocalypse hoping that they will be spared.

all in all it's a fun time and we are looking forward to seeing what comes of it. We're taking bets on whether we end up working for Tiamat or Bahamut. Pally is True neutral and only concerned with his cause so he could go either way.

what do you think? Dragon Hitler or Raptor Jesus?
