LPT: Cars as status symbols is a really stupid game that you do not want to play.

Seems as if folx really do care if you’re driving a Range Rover or other luxury vehicle, but want to prop themselves up for purchasing a Honda, Lexus, etc. … lots of opinions in this thread. Paying cash for my car might have been frivolous. It probably wasn’t the highest and best use of the money or the best investment, but I always wanted one (2021 Range Rover is what I bought, sorry…) but I hit a personal goal that took a decade+ to hit and went for it. Not everyone who has a luxury vehicle leases, and those who do aren’t humanely worth less than anyone else. Just my $0.02. I know a lot of people paying more than $1.3k a month to lease or own a newer Suburban/Tahoe or American truck (Ford, Chevy, etc), so to me, this post is a little surprising. I even know people that pay over $1,000 month to drive a Hyundai Tucson or Toyota Tacoma, truly. Have you seen the MSRP on a new Camry lately?

I don’t judge you in your new or pre-owned Honda, so why am I an automatic asshat for driving a newer Range Rover?

Regardless of these comments, I love my car, and I bought it because I wanted it, and dreamed of it, and busted my ass for it (please don’t take this as if you’re not also working hard), for ME, I certainly didn’t buy this car for “Karen” or “Paul’s” opinion in the grocery store parking lot, or on the freeway. Who gives a _____? The folx that think it’s status symbol, are the folx that actually have a problem in the sense of overthinking it.

And lastly, to those who are driving a car to its very, very, last leg, I commend you! Rock it out, as I plan to do with mine.
