LPT: If you're born poor it's not your fault, but if you stay poor its still not your fault. Be kind to yourself.

Going to be that guy and disagree.

I'm a privileged person because of my parents. No, I'm not rich. Didn't grow up rich at all.

My privilege? I live in the West, had food on the table everyday, shelter above my head and good parents. That's really it. We were very middle class but the notion of "if you want something, don't complain - go and earn it" was instilled to us at a young age.

I'd say I'm extremely average. But that being said, I hated not being able to buy what I wanted when younger. I hated not being able to buy the best things. I hated being "poor" or my baseline of poor.

I took up another job, flipped things online, sold things at school and Uni, invested in the stock market at an early age. The rewards creeped in and honestly, I loved being able to afford things because I worked for them. It was my accomplishment.

Why? Because I wanted to get ahead and get my own things. I'm still not rich but significantly better off now than I have ever been in my life.

You're absolutely right. If you're born poor, it's not your fault. But you owe it to yourself to change your situation as you grow older. Because what's the alternative? Be homeless? As somebody whose volunteered with the homeless, a lot of them are downright miserable.

Be realistic to yourself. Even if you're dealt a bad hand in life, try. Even baby steps goes a long way to you slowly getting to where you want to end up (hopefully).
