M 5'10 257-183= 74 pounds lost in a year and a half. Same shirt. New me. Put on a old shirt before going to the gym and was blown away by what I saw looking back at me.

This is going to be a long reply, so get ready. My weight loss journey began when my ex girlfriend left me for one of my best friends. Cliche I know. After that I took a long hard look as to why she would do that. I had a drinking problem which lead to eating horribly. Doesn't help whenever you have a job that is physically demanding and drinking my sorrows away. Pretty much stopped drinking for the most part. I wanted to be fit again as I was once big then small then big again. I had an idea where to start food wise. Gradually making healthier choices and getting in the gym helped a ton. Put a little bit back on after quitting smoking towards the later part of 2014. Had enough of that and started keto. I figured it was time to start tracking my intake as religiously as i go to the gym. I've fallen in love with fasting thanks to the hodge twins. The changes have been wonderful with keto but its not the cure all for me as everyone makes it out to be. I've been doing the warrior diet with 20/4 eating style and gradually transitioned to a 5:2/4:3 eating style. Basically eat at maintenance on eating days. Fasting helps control my hunger and has allowed a little wiggle room on the weekends now. My new gf is an excellent cook and is very supportive of my new lifestyle. With fasting throughout the week with keto allows me for a nice big refeed day on Sunday. So I indulge in her wonderful cooking and have the occasional treat. Plus, the refeed helps me with my wieghtlifting and gives me a day where I'm not trying to be so precise by monitoring everything I eat. My eating style is weird I know so YMMV if you follow it. I found what works for me in my journey to become fit. Fasting allows me to eat like a fat kid but still be mindful of what I'm using as fuel in my body. Best of luck to anyone out there who has began their journey to become fit.

TL;DR I typed this on my phone so please take the time to read it.
