Ancients is a short born out of spontaneously recorded drone footage, which later became my personal attempt at testing the limits of drone-only filmmaking.
After I started flying last summer, my collection of drone footage started expanding hike by hike, travel by travel. I knew I eventually wanted to put that footage to use. But I also knew I did not want to simply add some music on a timeline and be done with it. Therefore I made a short film. My goal soon became to make the best I could out of random drone footage by writing a captivating script around that pre-existing footage, by infusing it with character and spark through immersive music and narration, and by making it all come together through editing.
Regarding the topic of the short, I am very interested in lucid dreaming and the study of supernatural beliefs and practices. I tried to bring these two together in Ancients in a way that the film leaves a mark in the viewers and their perception of life and afterlife.
