While this can and has been interpreted in a number of ways, it was Carl Schmitt who correctly identified the problems with liberalism and specifically its incompatibility with democracy. That in the final analysis liberalism means government by discussion and not democracy. Here's hoping mister Sanders can contribute to a systemic change and undo some of the inherent flaws that were deliberately created by those who betrayed the American revolution, chiefly among which the clique around Alexander Hamilton. A more democratic America in my view would be less of a threat to the world than the current liberal empire. I wouldn't go as far as to say that Sanders is the last hope, but the hour is getting late and the patience of the American people is being tested to its absolute limits.
