embodied the physical valor necessary for success in war, he was a dangerous force, "overwhelming, insatiable in battle, destructive, and man-slaughtering.
Most artistic representations of Ares show him in the battlefield, as he would never willingly miss a battle . . . He is shown with a muscular body and an attractive appearance . . .
