Why do so many professors and educators say that you can get right into things like forensics, info sec/cyber security, networking or really any position you desire in IT as soon as you graduate when it actually takes years of work and experience?

Every professional that can be credentialled enough to teach in an accredited post secondary establishment has to work a long time to get there. They have to hype themselves up to get through every stage of their career. Hype is always self serving. Ignorance fueled hype, wilful or otherwise, to a degree program that certain professionals and publishers benefit from high enrollment ought to be expected. It lines pockets and feeds egos.

This is normal in any field.

For example, I have seen gender studies profs talk about the necessary roles their fields play in guiding HR practices. Art historians speak of their graduates guiding the mass's interpretation of taste and aesthetics, influencing the overall market place.
