That's an interesting way to put it, but I still disagree. Anyone could be talking about Mexican cartels and blank on the word "cartel" for a moment. It would sound bad, but that would not be their intention. We need to be better about recognizing degrees and shades of grey. Intention is an extremely important factor. Going after someone on reddit for a slip of the tongue is exactly why people think think that the left is disaffected and pretentious...and this is coming from someone who is on the left and passionate about social justice.

Again, I'm not defending Mary. I can't stand her and hate how she treats and judges other. I'm only focussed on this specific moment and I'm defending where we draw the line for outrage.
