The masks were CGI

That isn’t something to applaud. So the invisible effects were good, but the more pronounced VFX are still terrible. That’s what people are complaining about. I don’t care if they used CGI to seamlessly replace a jacket when the action sequences that are supposed to be exciting are obviously built entirely in a computer with no input from the actors, directors or stunt coordinators.

I don’t think there’s anything amazing about how they don’t give writers or directors enough time to properly write, plan and shoot film that something as simple as a car can’t be sourced for the set.

The result is smudgy, blandly rendered CG in every environment for every scenario that will age horribly in just a few years.
