Matt Lauer fired from NBC News for sexual misconduct

I’m in my early 20’s, and in the past few years I’ve realized he seems like a dick, but growing up he seemed like a family member or something. My parents watch NBC, we would have the Today Show on in the mornings while getting ready for our day, we watched the nightly news with Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, and now Lester Holt every night. Whenever an anchor would say “good morning” or “good night,” my parents and I would respond to the tv in a mostly joking way, but kind of seriously too. Every major world event that I’ve lived through has been narrated by these people, 9/11 (probably the first news event I remember, and also my mom’s birthday), the wars in the Middle East, Obama getting elected, all the protests of the past few years, literally everything. I’d have to say that this revelation is probably one of the closer ones to home for me so far, even if I’ve realized Lauer is a prick as I’ve grown up. I’m really glad that NBC took action and I hope every industry starts to become receptive to these kinds of issues.
