I used to work at a place that would issue coupons that were good for one month after issue. For the most part we didn’t really enforce it. The coupon used to be stored electronically on peoples loyalty cards. They just came out the paper ones in the hope people lost them or the one month thing worked.

They stopped issuing the coupons and doing the program. We still accepted them for a long time but they started to dry up. Someone went berserk three years after the thing was issued. I had not seen one in probably two. Just to see what would happen I tried to scan it with the scanning gun and it gave an error. The system didn’t even know what it is.

They gave me that look for their three year old coupon that the computer thought was garbage.
