[META] On personal blogs, monetisation, "spam", etc

Alright, well I just caught up with the comments here and I want rephrase some things I've said yesterday:

I like to think I have an open mind when it comes to things like this. Monetized blogs can obviously lead to a decrease in content because the author gets carried away with seeing profits with his/her work. My site isn't a way to make a quick buck. I genuinely want it to grow and hone my writing abilities to provide good content to this community. I've received countless comments and messages from users here telling me that my posts have been helpful to them. I love hearing this. I had a conversation with MFA moderator /u/metcarfre yesterday and he confirmed what I was doing was not against the subreddit's rules as long as I was engaged with the community and not spamming. For the record, I do think I've been posting to my blog more than I should and I've gotten carried away with the success of it. I have full plans to take a step back, focus on my content, and grow my website and my userbase fairly and transparently.

I don't want to have a reputation of being a spammer in this subreddit nor do I want people to think my only motivation for posting content is for money. This is absolutely not true, and if it's proposed that I link to my own website, I'd have no problem doing this. I'm not breaking any subreddit rules and my posts have been mostly loved by the community. Do I make errors in my posts? Absolutely, as I'm not some sort of supreme authority in the subject. I state this multiple times in my posts, though I do research my topics and put many hours into them writing content for users. My website has no obtrusive ads and the only way it generates revenue to pay for its costs are through referral links, to which there is zero incentive for anyone to buy anything. I honestly don't think it's such a terrible thing for someone posting content to get a small cut of the profits Amazon makes on an item. If it's preferred, I can post guides through Reddit's text posts with no referral links or pictures.

I don't want this to separate me from /r/malefashionadvice. This sub was what got me into men's fashion I value being a member of it more than I do promoting my website here.
