Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes [Official Discussion Thread #2]

Proof...

That proves that you have a screenshot of someone passing it in 39 minutes at some point. Maybe it was you... Maybe it was your first time, I don't know.

That's like saying because I didn't collect all the collectibles in a particular game I didn't technically complete it.

My point wasn't to say you didn't really complete it by rushing through... I was pointing out that you could have played in a more sneaky way and done the optional stop and it would have lasted more than '40 minutes without skipping cutscenes'.

Also, it's nothing like collectibles... because collectibles are hidden. These optional rescues are pretty obvious and explicit... and as a player you chose to ignore them and shorten your own experience so that you could complain about it later... I guess.

there's never been any sacrifice to the story to make it accessible/inaccessible to new comers.

First, there's never been a short, standalone title that was released to generate hype (and earn a little money) for the next full title. Also, there was no sacrifice to the story. It was simply more visual and less reliant on passed lore (or at least, still enjoyable without knowing much about Paz and Chico)... The MGS2 demo/tanker mission is similarly shallow - and yet, accessible because it sets up a story while referencing/using characters from MGS, but doesn't delving so deep into the events of MGS to alienate a new player. Plus, it's only loosely connected to the Plant mission. Much like how GZ will be loosely connected to Phantom Pain - and how GZ uses characters from past games, but doesn't delve so deep into their past as to alienate - nor spoil - new comers.
