Dude it’s systemic and codified into the whole legal system, labor system, and entire society in the South targeting black people. Luckily reformist groups helped removed those laws from our books.

Even in this day and age. Those types of conversations would never be made about other people of any class, religion, etc. Would you talk about lynching a “white” Catholic? That’s not even a discussion despite Catholicism is considered Satanic by us Southern Protestants (Southern Baptist) and we make up the majority of American Christianity and especially in the South. Also Italians aren’t really considered “white” in some parts of the rural south but we don’t take any lynching them.
