MIT student killed when allegedly intoxicated NYPD officer mows down a group of pedestrians

How much do you understand of the criminal justice system? I mean, beyond what you read on the front page of Reddit or hear in the echo-chamber subreddits and websites you visit? How much time have you spent with officers, prosecutors, judges, and defense attorneys? Do you think the fact that our nation has an issue of racism and police brutality extends to our judicial system? Stop being ignorant and pull your head out of your ass. One of the ONLY things still functioning properly in this fucking Country IS our judicial system. Proof beyond a reasonable doubt is a tenet that has provided our country with fairness and justice to millions, many of them criminals who get to walk free for crimes that they objectively obviously committed. More than anything, the problem is out backwards ass laws and punishment of drug use and poverty, not the judicial system which is the true issue. The members of our judicial system work tireless, day in and day out, for shit pay, to ensure that EVERYONE is given a fair trial and Due Process. Is it a fucking perfect system? Fuck no. Are there idiot judges and lawyers in it? Absolutely. But what it is not, without a doubt, is broken. What is broken is our criminal laws, which are in desperate need of a complete overall in how we approach crime and rehabilitation. We need to re-organize the police force, re-train them, and better approach how we handle poverty, violence, and interaction with the community at large. Do not blame the criminal justice system for working with the laws which it has been given.
