Monolingualism is fine. People who believe otherwise are conceited.

They US never was an English speaking country. From the very beginning it had at least five major European languages. That’s to say nothing of all the African languages or Native languages. The framers realized it would be un-democratic to select one (and they were right). The Louisiana purchase forever cemented this fact. Not only is English not an official language on paper, but more than 30-40 percent of the US today have another primary language and in the not so distant future Spanish will likely catch up with English there. You absolutely don’t have to learn Spanish in EXACTLY the same way they don’t have to learn English, but it benefits both of you to do so. They have just as much right to their America as you have to yours. It’s always some white people using these arguments, but they don’t hold weight. You guys forced slaves to adhere to your language, same with the real Americans that lived there forever before you arrived. Hell even the mythology adopted says that America was discovered by Spaniards and Italians. What languages do you think they were speaking? I know that you’ve made up your mind and I don’t really care but I implore anyone who reads this to do your research and learn your history.
