Most Americans would rather spend the $5 billion Trump is demanding for the border wall on infrastructure, education, or healthcare

Stop saying 5bil. Its the down payment

My take is that it's not even a down payment (intent to buy), the 5 billion is a door stop to make asking for more money easier as we go along.

I can't see how any reasonable American feels that a 30' high, 20' deep wall across our entire souther boarder is anything more than a mid-evil times tactic to surround a kingdom. The more you read into defining what "illegal immigrant" means, the more you find that 70% of illegals came here legally, of the remaining 30%, most aren't from Mexico. Then you find out that illegal immigrants (who as we just read) that came here legally then became illegal, and the others who came here illegal....are less likely to commit crime. From a common sense point of view: is it easier to transport a lot of drugs on a person or car? Car? Cool, are they driving through the desert or trying to blend in? Blend in? cool. Does blending in mean driving trough the desert or through legal point of entry? POE? cool...so why doesn't that work now?

TL:DR: The wall is BOTH the most expensive and least effective measure to control: Illegal immigration, drug trade, crime.
