Why do most middle aged+ (mid 40s- early 50s+) people not understand modern technology and not bother to learn?

It’s because in their minds, they “got by just fine” without all of this tech, so they feel that there really is no need for it. What they don’t realize is that there will come a point when you can no longer do things the old way, you will have to have some working knowledge of at least a smart phone to get anything done. Also, they prefer human contact. They don’t want to talk to a “robot” or email someone. They want to call and talk to a real person that can understand the nuances of the issue the issue in question.

I’m 38 and automated calls drive me insane. What drives me more insane is trying to help my 74 year old mother google something. I explain it again and again, but I get, ”no it doesn’t work...it did something different this time...what is an address bar...what’s an app...”
