To the Musicians here with ADHD

I've been playing piano on and off from an early age. I never really practiced as much as I maybe could have done. I know I have a ton of potential, and I've been told many times how well I could do in life if I stuck at it and really honed my craft, but I just don't find it that interesting.

Reading music is incredibly boring to me, as is playing the same thing over and over. I get zero sense of achievement out of it, and it mostly just ends up feeling like a waste of time.

However, I make a piece of music in Ableton or Bitwig every week or 2, quite often when I have something else I need to do and the avoidance fuels my musical needs somehow. Everything I make has to sound somehow unique and new to me.

I can't stick with one style, I can't make something that sounds too similar to something already out there, and I certainly can't make something that isn't upbeat and interesting. Something like some of Aphex Twin's ambient works would just not be possible for me. I could maybe do it, but it would feel so awful!

My ratio of finished to unfinished projects is probably around 20:1 though, which is a bit shit, and again, not finishing it is usually down to it not completely fulfilling all of the criteria outlined above.
