Your own life and I'm talking about you directly regardless of this circumstance should be something that you're so interested in that it's hard to distract you. What I'm saying is that you sound like an interesting person with great judgment to the point that mutual friends were so torn that they had to share this with you. I would honestly say, respect her opinion and her decision and move out. You can't let this stop you from what you want.
