IWhen I did my ob/peds semester in nursing school (2008ish?) i quickly realized I could never get into that field of nursing. Too sad. I watched a male infant get circumcised. The doctor doing it numbed the area first and made a point to tell me he was going to wait for it to kick in before doing the procedure. Apparently a lot of other doctors there didn’t wait and just did it immediately afterwards with the thought that the babies will cry regardless? Fucking weird.

The baby didn’t cry at the time, thankfully. But the whole process seemed so cruel even though the doc was trying to make it painless. Like, why do this to a baby? What’s the point?
