My wife’s ER bill came in today..

I might just be dumb and not informed enough but how in the world do people in America deal with health care?????

I’m from Europe and in my country healthcare is completely covered by taxpayers (just not cosmetic surgeries and stuff like that).

I keep seeing posts about people having to pay 10-15k$ for a broken leg ???? Wtf Not to mention an INSANE amount of money for any minor surgery needed.

Do people even do regular checkups with the doctor? Do you ever do blood tests because it’s been a while since you had one? What if you’re sick and need antibiotics? Do you just keep paying for everything your entire life?

I understand there might be some sort of insurance that you can have, but why do I see people paying almost a 1000$ for an ambulance ride? Does insurance cover that or what the hell is happening there?

Sincerely, confused non American
