When The Daily Beast editor Sam Stein pointed out the extreme comparison, the NRCC responded with a GIF image of a burning dumpster emblazoned with a hammer and sickle. This isn’t the first time prominent Republicans have made such an overwrought comparison: on Thursday, former Trump aide Sebastian Gorka called New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal proposal “what Stalin dreamt about but never achieved.”
