Negative Steam reviews for this game in a nutshell.

Like I said, no simulation,

That's crap. Try chopping down a tree in The Forest. That's a better simulation that even Farming Simulator 2015 could pull off.

mostly crafting

Not at all, cave exploring, base-building, growing crops, a medical system, stealth, armor, story elements, trap-placement, the list goes on.

small map

http://theforestmap.com/ Take a look. This thing is big, and only getting bigger with each update. The underground sections are enourmous.

arcade ballistics

You're just making stuff up at this point. Every ballistic weapon in The Forest functions very close to their real-life counterparts. Have you tried throwing an item in DayZ? If it doesn't land at your feet, it performs a slideshow instead of being thrown.

you got me on the PvP point, it thought it was coop since that is what I played. Granted, that was two months ago.

You have always been able to damage other players in The Forest.

No PvP in the way DayZ does.

So, dying from some sniper, or a hacker?

I have The Forest, played for about 20 hours, which is more than adequate to know that The Forest is just another arcade survival game.

You clearly either are lying, or just haven't done much with those 20 hours, based on what you've stated so far about the Forest, because it's far from "arcade". it's not perfect, it's still in Alpha, but it is definitely not arcade.

Nothing bad about that, but don't compare it to DayZ.

They're both survival crafting zombie-esque games, I'll compare if I want.

It doesn't rewrite the engine it's running on

You are acting like that's somehow a situation where the developers of DayZ are the victims. They chose to stick with the ancient Arma 2 / ToH engine, when A3 was clearly available from the get-go.

it doesn't have vehicles

DayZ vehicles hardly function. Running is faster in most cases, and safer, and less buggy (slightly).

hell, it doesn't even have guns besides a flare gun.

Yet. That doesn't even make a game good.

Loot is minimal

Bull-shit. This wiki isn't even up-to-date, but look at it: http://theforest.gamepedia.com/Category:Items

some stuff around the plane, the cannibal villages and down in the cave.

That's crap, again. For one, there are multiple caves, there always have been. For two, loot spawns randomly in tons of places all over the environment and in various locations. The Yacht, camp sights, random luggage crates, hell even the trees, bushes, cannibals, wildlife, etc. are sources of loot.

Nothing like in DayZ at all.

To be fair, I was comparing them as two early-access games, not really as gameplay mechanics.

That's not an opinion, that's a simple fact

No, it isn't, see my above responses. You're making things up.

It has a small team, yes, but that shows as well.

Where? Graphics fidelity? Nope. It looks much better than DayZ. AI? Nope. Enemies don't clip through things, they are very advanced. Time between updates? Nope. As we've discussed, they've got BI beat by miles and miles. Here's the changelog: http://theforest.gamepedia.com/Patchnotes

I have had the game sine June 2014 and surprise surprise, it is also still in Early Access.

The thing is, features are being added, bugs are being fixed, all at a reasonable rate. DayZ came out December 16, 2013, by the way.

And added to that, there is also no end in sight.

Really? Where do you get that information? The game looks pretty damned complete to me, and more features are always welcome. Functions like a full-fledged product, prove me wrong if you can (you can't).

Sounds like the bulk of Early Access games to me, but they don't have to rewrite their engine. So now I'll give my opinion, The Forest Early Access is not doing better than DayZ at all.

That's fine for you to have an opinion, but you're wrong with it. Sorry to tell you, but The Forest is doing fine.

Stop with the 'you are so mad', I'm not mad or angry at all.

Uhm:

Are you dumb mate?

Fuck off

I called you out on and that and I'm 100% right.

I called you out on your bullshit statement

Ofcourse you don't see where I called you out, how convenient.

Clear enough for ya?

Yeah, you sound calm like a bomb.

It's simply the annoyance of these ridiculous comparisons, which they pretty much all are until you come up with a game that gets developed in tandem with an engine. I'll bet you'll have few to none.

Thing is, we haven't seen anything of this engine, minus some sneak peaks. It's going to break more than it's going to fix, I guarantee you, quote me when the renderer finally comes out if I'm wrong.

But see it how you wanna see it, by all means. In the end, DayZ will get it's shit together, on a brand new engine that is going to be used for all future Bohemia games (yes, it does: https://www.linkedin.com/company/enfusion-engine) and the majority of you will be back to play it.

I really, really doubt that.
