Nipple Piercing Help!! Pus balls under skin

  • Go to a reputable piercer and get it sized properly. Try looking for someone APP. Buying from online retailers hurts local piercing artists, prevents you from getting super neat custom pieces, and can lead to mistakes that you might not even realize. Also, if you're prone to irritation then get something IMPLANT grade (not surgical). This is typically titanium or niobium, but can be steel or plastic (those are rarely implant-grade, so watch out). Bonus, implant grade is MRI-safe. Lots of people get away with surgical steel, but your piercings will be happier with implant-grade. I had steel in my septum first and switched to titanium and I can smell the difference.

  • Figure out what is causing this outbreak. No sense in treating the symptoms without fixing the cause. Did you bump it? Did you recently switch soap or detergent? Are you sick or do you have allergies (this can cause your whole body to do weird things)? Sometimes things happen randomly too, though.

  • Do NOT put moisturizer or oils on it. It's an open wound. Open wounds don't want non-sterile things rubbed into them. You can moisturize once they're back to normal. Do NOT take your jewelry out while your piercing is irritated. Shoving bars in and out of an irritated flesh hole is not going to help the situation????

  • Make sure your salt soaks are sterile and mixed properly out of the right components.

  • Avoid using Q-tips till the nips calm down. They can tear at crusties/skin and they also leave little fibers behind. It's best to wash pus/crusties off in the shower with water. If there's some that don't come off on their own, you can use a Q-tip afterwards and it'll be a really gentle process since the crusties will already be melted. Then do your soaks.
