I got this piercing late September of 2022 and just a week ago I got this strange bump that I can’t identify, there’s no discharge, no pain, but it was quick to swell as well as it forming a weird tender bubble within my lip. Any ideas on what I can do to help make it go back to normal?

Had this happen to a girl who got her eyebrow done with SS. It’s an adverse reaction to the nickel content in your jewelry. Some people flare up worse than others, but I would say make sure your piercer is a real professional piercer and not just a tattoo artist who pierces on the side, and have them clean it, take the jewelry out and see if there’s any meaningful discharge, and what the color of the discharge is, and that will ultimately determine what the issue is. Wether it’s an infection and some sort of Bacteria got inside your healing piercing, or if it’s an adverse reaction to nickel, and if that’s the case you simply need a cleaning, and to switch out to a piece of titanium jewelry. Titanium is relatively inert, and we use it whenever a client has a metal sensitivity. The swollen area 8/10 will go down within a day or two. Rarely is a hospital or doctor needed. But playing it safe is never the wrong choice. If you’re panicked then see a physician. But if it’s not warm to the touch or sore with discharge, then it’s not an infection.
