Noam Chomsky: Republican Party is the most dangerous organisation in human history

I don't think it is a matter of opinions, it is a matter of looking at the data.

If I understand the position of the right correctly, there is dispute that climate change is man made no?

So, let's for a moment, concede that point - we don't know for sure if it is man causing the climate change or if it is part of the natural cycle (even though I personally feel I've seen enough data to convince me that man is a huge contributor to climate change).

If that is our starting position, and we know that certain things can exasperate a problem (man made or not), isn't it common sense for us not to do those things and make the problem worse?

The fact that carbon emissions cause global warming is pretty much a scientific consensus. Wouldn't it make sense to reduce those emissions? What is the counter point?

Now let's address the real GOP concern - regulations, and saving the fossil fuel industry. The fossil fuel industry is dying a natural death - green energy is producing more jobs and is really opening up new opportunities. If we really want to be free market driven, then we need to get government out of protecting the fossil fuel industry and let the market go where it will go, and that is towards green energy. Wouldn't that make sense for free market types? How is holding on to a dying industry good for us?
