Not sure if Reddit is showing me the harsh truth or creating new anxieties that I never had to begin with

Look up reddit demographics please!

Remember that 1% of people are psychopaths. A bunch more just suck. Please check out Robert Browning's book, "Ordinary Men" (or don't, it's super depressing). It's about the Holocaust - the early days, when it was carried out via firing squad. He found fully 70% of soldiers were just like, "okay, guess I'll get to shooting, then," even when they were given a chance to transfer to a different position.

Sorry, I know that's grim... Just saying, don't trust reddit as being "the truth." It's like 4% of the population, and it's significantly white, male, and early 20s. I suspect it's disproportionately dysphoric, too, and maybe disproportionately sociopathic. The folks of childfree scare me. Like, yikes.

Please remember there are other boards out there! If you want a balanced view of parenthood, you're more likely to find it on Babycenter or TheBump. Ha, not saying you'll like what you find! But I do think it will represent the average parent a lot more.

Good luck! (I'm a mom and love it!)
