Notre Dame Linebacker Jaylon Smith has won the Butkus Award

I actually didn't downvote all of your comments. I downvoted the first for several reasons including:

1) The use of the word "dumb" in that context, where it seemed you were assuming something about my beliefs and then insulting them/me. 2) Ignoring what I said about game-changing plays in big victories. 3) The accusation that I made Jaylon's stats sound "pedestrian" when all I said was they were not "elite." After all, he's not the top 20 in tackles or in the top 100 in sacks, TFL, fumbles forced, interceptions, PBU, etc. 4) The "Gee" line. I'm afraid it's true Jaylon absolutely did have to demonstrate some value that went beyond stats to win the award. 5) The assumption that I haven't watched Jaylon play. 6) The defensive homerism around the "interesting pick" wording. If it's true the voters actually took the care to watch him play and thoroughly evaluate him beyond stats and big plays, that is unusual, and therefore interesting to me. 7) The unnecessary soapbox lecture restating what I already alluded to in terms of talent, potential, and "massive value."

I imagined your second posts was one of unnecessary snark, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

Your third post continued to misconstrue my first post, which I don't care for. You insisted I said the pick was interesting "based on stats (only)," which is false, as there were other reasons given. Then you said I didn't sound at all like somebody who had watched him play, when I have said absolutely nothing to date which would suggest I haven't seen him play. So obviously that one warranted a downvote as well.

Even this last post of yours could use some work, and not just due to the assumption that I downvoted "all" of your comments, when the second is still clearly in the positive. "Your comment was not clear at all about the fact that you apparently have watched him a bunch." What is that about? I didn't comment on the fact I had seen him a bunch because it wasn't relevant to the post. It seems you want to blame me for your assumptions, and I'm not going to accept that blame.
