Obama: ‘Congress Will Not Allow the CDC to Study Gun Violence'

So this is the deal. I'm going to give you some information regarding this statement that should inform you.

Federal law states you can only purchase handguns in your state of residence. Long guns are limited to boarder state residents. Some states may have more telaxed laws with long gun purchases. I do not know of any currently.

To purchase a million guns over state lines as you say, one would need a valid government issued photo id with a current residence address. No current address? No sale. Expired? No sale.

After observing the buyers id is valid, the seller then gives the person buying a form called a 4473. The buyer must fill out this form to the best of their knowledge. Oh, you checked you were convicted of domestic violence? No sale. Oh, you checked you were not the actual buyer of the firearm? No sale. Oh, you were dishonerably discharged from the armed forces? No sale. You are an unlawfull user of narcotica? No sale. (This a federal form. Residents of a state where marijuana is legal, who use it, should check YES) Theres 11 questions in total relevevant to eligibility. After that's done, the seller must conduct an NICS background check. Mandated by federal law. If the buyer blatantly lied on the form, and he had disqualifiers that were not disclosed, the person reviewing the buyers background would find that. If the investigator cannot determine indefinate eligibility, the sale is delayed. The sale will more than likely get denied after further research is done. If the investigator sees immediate proof of ineligibility, the sale is denied immediately. The NICS uses the FBI data base for reference.

To obtain firearms and transport them over state lines is a crime if the buyer does not have them transferred from one federally licensed dealer to another. Once the firearms arrive at the destination dealer, the same paper work and background check process takes place.

Now, in reference to atraw purchases, that is taken very seriously by the ATF and the dealer selling the firearms. Oh, you came in with your buddy and hes been in the apparel section while you look at guns, and all of a sudden he shows up to do the form when you make your selection? No sale.

Oh, we denied you a sale, and you send in a reletive to buy a gun for you? No sale. Etc.

The punishment for straw purchases of a firearm are not to exceed 10k in fines and ten years imprisonment.

The ATF is a very crafty and diligent agency. If you've never talked with an ATF agent who isntracking an individual or group of individuals, you would be very surprised what they know about the suspected firearms crimes these people have committed.

Citizens may sell their private personally owned firearms person to person. This is not a crime. What is a crime is knowingly selling a firearm to someone who they have reason to beleive is not eligible to possess one.

And I'm just going to debunk the gunshow loophole for the hell of it.

Gunshows are no different than brick and mortar gun shops. The only difference is that instead of glass counters and cabinets, they sell guns off of folding tables in a convention center or inside an auditorium open to the public.

The same background checks take place. The same paper work is filled out.

Moving on to internet sales. (Just because you seem like one of those people who think no backgrounds take place for internet sales) SUPRISE!! They do. Federal law requires all firearms bought on the internet be shipped to a federally licensed dealer. Where you guessed it, a 4473 is filled out, and a background check takes place.

Now, after reading all of that, doesnt it sound like we have laws preventing these interstate firearms trafficking violations from taking place? Whether or not these laws get enforced, is another story.

At anytime the seller has the right to refuse a sale to anyone, for anyreason. The person may be acting strange. The person may have made mention of jihad. The person may have inquirred an odd desire to gain knowledge of tactics and specific weapon lethality. The person may have inquired about the making of improvised explosives or illegal firearms modifications. The person may come in visually disturned and overly emotional. Those are all reasons to deny sale. And it happens more often than you would imagine. Reality is, there are a ton of laws in place that prohibit scumbags from obtaining firearms. They do not get enforced like they should. Specifically interstate firearms trafficking laws. Which exist.

You may have seen articles of journalists going over statelines and purchasing firearms to prove how easy it is to buy the evil ar15 rifle. Well guess what? You guessed it! They broke the law trying to prove their biased view points.

Theres more to buying a firearm then whay I've stated so ar. Ive covered the main points.

Don't be ignorant. Theres to many ignorant people currently in positions of political power right now that have the desire, and the power to restrict our rights.

Hear about the politician that filibustered for background checks for sales of firearms on the onternet and sales at gunshows? Those regulations already exist. And these are the people who think they have the right to restrict citizens right. Pathetic.
