It is possible the Obama will announce a presidential pardon for "Dreamers". Which will be useless because even if Obama pardons those illegal for their past violations of immigration laws, they still will not have a legal status to stay in the US US (after DACA expires or is repealed.) A President can grant a pardon but not legal status, residency or citizenship.

In fact, it is extremely foolish and shortsighted for illegal immigrant advocates to pressure Obama to pardon Dreamers. Such a pardon will most certainly antagonize the incoming President, Donald Trump, and Republicans. Then Republicans will most certainly retaliate against Dreamers, who will have a presidential pardon but still without a legal status. Trump has already said he will prioritize criminal illegal aliens - illegals who have criminal records - for deportation. If Obama antagonize Trump and Republicans by pardoning Dreamer, then Trump will most certainly repeal DACA and then reprioritize Dreamers for deportation.
