OFFICIAL - USA fires Jurgen Klinsmann

The big thing that was in the news was his battle with the MLS over implementing deeper and stronger academy system. I believe he was trying to (or maybe succeeded) force each MLS team to reinvest a certain percentage of capital into their academies.

I imagine most of the things he was working on were more behind the scene, its why he wanted (and got) the technical director position as well as head coach position with his most recent contract. He was worried about developing our youth system as much as anything else and you can see the fruit of those efforts beginning to take shape. Our younger players are starting to make names for themselves in leagues across the world rather than stagnating in American College systems.

It really is a shame that our 2nd most successful coach (by the numbers) ever, a coach with a vision and a plan and a desire to develop American soccer to great power that it could be, was fired because of a gut reaction to two losses that more than likely will make no difference in the long run. So as I said before "what a poor, short sighted decision"
