Older people of reddit, what's something from your childhood that you miss today?

I'm not really that much "older," but I'd love to go back twelve or so years for a day or two... Okay, I'd kill for one more day like this:

Roll out of bed around 2:30pm, and don't feel anxious or upset about it. My computer is on still, with my browser still open. I close out of Somethingawful and decide it's time to eat. I walk downstairs and find some waffles in the freezer that I didn't pay for and make myself an afternoon batch of waffles with syrup. My sister is watching some TV show and my old dogs (both dead) are still young assholes.

After my waffles, I drop the plate in the sink and forget about it. I head back up to my room and get on Trillian. MySpace is a thing, but I don't really use it and neither do my friends. I'm also on Steam, but it's an infantile service that is basically my Counterstrike client at this point. I send out a couple of text messages to other people and ask them what's up for the day. Everyone, like usual, is sittnig home alone in the afternoon doing nothing. We make plans to meet up at Mike's house and "hang out." No real time is given.

I hop on Counterstrike and proceed to kill people for a few hours. Nobody is on voice chat and it's just a bunch of annoying people typing at each other, furiously. I play a bit of Morrowind. I'll play a bit of Simcity 4, too. Suddenly, it's 6pm and everyone in my family is home. My stepmom makes an amazing home cooked dinner and my dad calls my grandparents, both dead now, to say hello. My other grandma, dead now, calls me and says "well hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" in her squeaky grandma tone and tells me about the latest thing she ordered off QVC for our family. Thanks grandma, we'll put the Carrot-Baller next to the other appliances.

Play more video games carefree for awhile, get some text messages from friends, and then I get on my bike and ride across town to my friends house. We do nothing of note in his room for awhile, before all getting on bikes. It's 11:30pm on a Summer wednesday, and we're going to cruise suburban streets until 3am while they are empty. We ride to Wal-Mart and lock our bikes in a pile outside and go to the bargain movie bin and look at stupid movies and make comments. We buy some candy, or a loaf or bread, or a stuffed penguin. Who knows where we got the cash (parents). We ride our bikes to the home depot and pick apples off the tree. Climb a wall. Go up a ladder to the roof and look at our little sleepy suburban town.

After riding around for awhile, we get back to Mike's and play some Conkers Bad Fur Day, 4 player. Around 6:30am when his dad wakes up for work I get on my bike and ride home. I get home around 7:15am. My parents are already gone, I drink the end of their decaf coffee, eat the leftover toast, and kill some more people on counterstrike for a few hours until 9 or 10am. I fall asleep unceremoniously around then, and wake up late in the afternoon to repeat this for the rest of summer.

Repeat every summer, incrementally adding benefits of getting older, while still lacking responsibility.

Man, I just miss those days where I actually had infinite free time and nothing to do. Where my biggest choice was bicycle, video games, or TV.

Oh, and the lack of social media was a good thing.
