On the verge of meltdown. please help

I am in the late stages of medical training and I felt constrained by my conscience to come in here and tell you - off the books, not intended to be medical advice, I would NEVER get gastric bypass surgery.

Sometimes people get something called intestinal torsion. Their intestines twist on themselves and choke off their own blood supply, and then die.

Surgeons then have to take out the dead intestine, because the dead part is weak, feces can punch through into your body cavity and give you a life threatening infection.

If you have gastric bypass surgery, you're at risk of very bad torsion. I just saw somebody whose entire small intestine died because of this. Your small intestine is what allows you to absorb food, so this patient is now medically impossible to feed.

They are alive, awake in a hospital bed, and they're just going to slowly starve to death right in front of everyone and there's nothing anyone can do.

I will remember that for the rest of my life.

Honestly, what it seems like you need is a psychologist. Gaining weight is mechanical, but being an obese person is all mental and you are well aware of that, so if I were you I would try to fix the problem at the source.

None of this is to be taken as medical advice, do your own research, you assume your own risk, and good luck.
