One of the most real, and well-researched video about Singapore that I have seen a foreigner make | Crazy Poor Asians - Nas Daily

retirement

ive tried many times and even after cutting it down to a single paragraph i cant get the originial fourth part to show. i basically say im skeptical of the claim that official data says 42% cant afford to retire (i cant find it anywhere, but he may have rounded it off which makes it difficult to find. still ive never heard of official sources making such a claim, or that we even had a benchmark for what "afford to retire" means), and note that only 25.8% of people aged 65 and over are employed, and surely not even all of those people are working only because they cant afford to retire. this is the most serious flaw in the video in my opinion.

i obviously cant disagree with the intention of showing the average singaporean is not like the people in the movie, but would have preferred the video to have stayed close to the relevant facts (inequality could have been one, and it wasnt mentioned). im not sure that there were that many people who really believed in the "crazy rich" characterization for the average singaporean in the first place. this video seems to have traded up one exaggeration (which few people truly believed anyway) for another one in the opposite direction. i certainly dont think this is "well-researched". from the facebook page it seems the work on statistics was done entirely by a group of singaporeans from "homeless hearts", and they should have known better.
