I'm a second generation immigrant, so I was born state side. My immediate experience with my family leads me to believe it's a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B. My mom is 1 of 12 siblings and she had 6 brothers that were all cheaters according to her (and my other aunts). My uncles at minimum all left behind several children all with different mothers. I'm 1 out of 33 grandkids on that side... my aunts are all super religious like my mother so idk. We're Latin and hispanic so I think culture has some to do with it. When I flew over every summer it was standard that the women all gather and pray the rosary at night around 7 while the men fucked off to drink or watch sports.

After my cousin turned up pregnant at 15 while I was 16 my mom told me that a baby in the home is always a blessing and while not ideal if I ended up pregnant we'd figure it out but she didnt want me worried or hiding it. Thankfully I never took her up on that "offer."

I grew up in intense poverty so I watched so many friends and acquaintances and neighbors fall into common traps like having babies too young or without support or hitching their wagon to deadbeat partners that were objectively deadbeats! I refused to be more of the same.

I turned 30 this year and got married right before my birthday to an incredible man. We were together for almost 6 years before getting married. My mother was with my father 2 years before they illegally entered the US. And I was almost 4 at their wedding. I'm not looking to repeat some familial history.
