Opinion | Biden Should Finish the Wall

i mean to just take a step back on this without including trump and all the racism and whatbot, we were always going to need to keep a closer eye on immigration and emigration as we provided more services. a world where the US government is giving free healthcare and education is also a world where a lot of people want to get into the US, so even in a liberal utopia you need to have conversations about how that works.

but the problem is we aren't approaching immigration this way and we never have. a wall is sort of a meaningless object without w comprehensive strategy for moving forwwrd, which we don't have. build a wall be my guest, that changes absolutely nothing in the convo and doesn't prevent determined people from coming here either.

what we should be talking about is what are we prepared to guarantee for citizens, for people trying to become citizens, for asylum seekers, and then for everyone else. what is the US prepared to do for these groups that is humane but also reasonable? that question needs to be discussed first before we can have any real conversation about ohys6ically locking down a border.
