Overheard a bartender complaining that merchants can no longer steal tips

Yeah when you're a server who's getting paid $2.13 an hour or a bartender who's getting paid seven bucks an hour, it really does suck to do all the same work to prepare and bag orders when you never get the tips. She's not saying they steal the tip she's saying they don't steal the tips and they don't get to keep them. I used to work in a restaurant and with to go orders that people picked up they would sign the receipt and you get a tip about 10% most of the time but with doordash you don't get that, even though you still got to put a lot of work into it and your tables and customers in the restaurant are suffering because of it and sometimes your tips suffer because you can't give the attention needed to the customers in the store.

None of this is the dasher's fault, but it's also not the restaurant employees' fault. It's doordash's fault and the restaurant's fault, but hating on these people who are also victims of big companies doesn't sit right with me. This woman was complaining about something that really f****** sucks about the system she works in, just like we do here all day long. She wasn't stealing tips, I don't think she was trying to steal tips she's just mentioning that it sucks ass when you have to do all this extra work and you don't get any more money for it compared to before.
