Why is the perceived PC culture so important to so many voters?

Depends on what PC issue you're talking about.

I was once in a conversation with an old lady in declining health and she said she was in the "Hemlock Club". Not having access to google at the time, I innocently asked, "Is it to commit suicide?"

Another individual screamed, "IT'S DEATH WITH DIGNITY!!"

Now, if that person didn't fly-off the handle and said, "Yes. What of it?"

She would have discovered that I think everyone has a right to take their own life and I am very sympathetic to folks who choose suicide over living for possibly years in very bad health - maybe in a comma - and putting their loved ones through Hell in the meantime. (Every medical professional I talked to about Robin Williams said that if he didn't commit suicide, his life wouldn't have much dignity for decades. And seeing his best friend, Christopher Reeve live like he did, it's no wonder.)

I took what happened to me as PC bullying. That person could have just said, "I our company, it's called death with dignity."

OK.

Then their are folks who use PC issues as an excuse to just express their bigotry and racism; which I have no problem with it. But be prepared to have folks not talk to you, cuss you out, and get violent with you.

I do think some of the universities have really gone off the rails with limiting people's speech.

There was a time when folks said something you didn't like or was quite obnoxious, you ignored them and chalked it up to their poor character.

And stopping it publicly only forces it to be private where it gains even more power - it becomes more radical.

And as far as the Muslim community is concerned, there is a lot of bigotry, racism and prejudice towards them. I also think they really should publicly address the problem of radicalization in their community too - in their own communities.
