Pitbull puppy and new rescue having issues

Thank you so much for the great reply and advice.

As far as "scolding", it's mostly when we verbally try to correct her. For example, today I was across the room and saw the puppy biting on one of our end tables by the couch. I said "maya......" not loud or aggressive or anything but basically to let her know I saw what she was doing. She looked up at me and stopped for a second, then went back to chewing on the table. So I got up and said "maya...." again while I walked towards her. Once the older dog saw me approving her, she proceeded to sit in front of her and protect her. When I see the puppy chewing I usually bring her a toy to divert to attention to chewing a toy instead.

Thank you for the feeding advice. I'm going to definitely do that. I realize what a mistake that is now. I have a lot of experience with dogs but not too much puppy experience so we're still trying to get everything down pat.

I'm sure I did jump the gun and I realize that
