Please help me win a discussion on City x United/LFC/Ars/Spurs investments

  1. Arsenal got £50m investment from Fiszman in the late 90s. Accounting for football inflation, this is anywhere between £600m-£800m in today's money. Tony Adams (one of their greatest players and captains) said in an interview - "I think that a significant factor, 90 per cent, in why we achieved so much is that Danny Fiszman invested £50m in the club and we were able to go to the next level," he said. "I got my first decent contract at the club, so did David Seaman, we were able to bring in Dennis Bergkamp – and that was before Arsène arrived – David Platt, Patrick Vieira, Nicolas Anelka, and were able to pay them – top players from around the world."
  2. Liverpool were on the brink administration in 2010 under the ownership of Hicks and Gillett. Their total debt at that point was close to £300m. FSG came in, paid off their debts and essentially saved the club. This was external money injected into the club. They weren't making any money during those years. In fact, between 2009 and 2013, Liverpool posted 5 straight seasons of loss.

Liverpool's total losses between 2011-2013 were £140m whereas UEFA states that "clubs competing in Europe must limit their losses to £35.4m over two seasons." In 2014, UEFA opened an investigation because of their finances in the 2012 and 2013 season for breaching FFP. However, they then escaped punishment as UEFA accepted their explanation that the losses were due to risings costs for re-development of Anfield. Yes you read that right.

  3. Spurs were taken over by Daniel Levy in 2001. Here's their league finishes between 1992-2014 - 8th, 15th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th, 11th, 10th, 12th, 9th, 10th, 14th, 9th, 5th, 5th, 11th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 4th, 5th, 6th. That's 2 top 4 finishes 22 seasons.

    Poch became manager in 2014. League finishes after that - 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd.

They were a nothing club before Poch and once he leaves, they'll become a nothing club again. Their success has nothing to do with austerity or academy or Levy.

  4. United....where do I start? The reason why football has become what it is today, the reason why clubs sold their souls to the devil, the reason why there's a premier league and massive fucking inflation because of TV money, the reason why clubs languishing in lower leagues don't get their share of broadcasting income, the reason for exorbitant player wages, the reason for corporatising football, the reason why noodle and tractor sponsors became a thing, the reason why football became a commodity. United is to football what Beats is to headphones. Made their name in Asian markets when nobody had a fucking clue what was happening through marketing and sales, built a brand and are now riding of wave of a billion plastics. The cuntiest cunts, the biggest fucking wankstains in the universe support United. Never forget that.
